Media Advisory: Mothers Who Need Obstetrical Care Increasingly At Risk

Ottawa – December 2, 2008 – The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) will release new research on December 4, 2008, that clearly shows that Canada does not have enough Ob/Gyns to handle Canada’s current obstetrical needs, and that this situation is going to get significantly worse over the next five years. This Emergency Obstetrical Care shortage could put Canadian mothers and babies at risk, especially those who do not live close to a hospital that provides obstetrical care.
