Iron Deficiency Anemia: Bridging the Gap

Iron Deficiency Anemia: Bridging the Gap
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is prevalent in patients in gynaecology and obstetrics practice and is associated with many adverse effects and outcomes including fatigue, poor wound healing, and risks for pregnancy and infants. Yet research has revealed that IDA is substantially underdiagnosed and undertreated in Canadian gynaecology and obstetrics practices. Gynecologists and obstetricians are in the ideal position to recognize the common risk factors for IDA in women, and to assess and diagnose patients in whom they suspect IDA. This online course will empower practitioners to confidently recognize and embrace iron optimization as part of routine care within their specialties.
