Our educational initiative would not be possible without the efforts of specialists, physicians, nurses and midwives trained to teach this course to their peers. It is for that reason that the ALARM Committee identified these requirements for instructors throughout Canada.
In order to be eligible to take the Instructor Course, you must have participated in an ALARM course in the past 4 years. The registration fee for the ALARM Instructor course will be $600 plus applicable taxes for OBGYN and FP doctors and $450 plus applicable taxes for nurses and midwives. Both the ALARM Course and the ALARM Instructor course have been approved for MAINPRO credits by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and are an Accredited Group Learning Activities as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Your participation at the ALARM Instructors’ Course is no guarantee that you will become a qualified ALARM Instructor. As with the ALARM Course, the Instructor Course has an examination process that you must pass to then be placed on a probationary list. After successful completion of the course, you will be invited to teach a course, where you will be evaluated by the Course Director. If the evaluation is favorable, your name will then be added to the list of qualified instructors.
Please note you will be required to teach once every three years to maintain your status as an active instructor following a successful completion of the evaluation process. Failing to do so would mean having to either take or pass an ALARM Course or an Instructor Course again should you wish to continue teaching.
A special registration form is enclosed for you to complete. Space is limited per course to 24 in total and it is expected that those invited will register quickly. Registrations are processed on a first come first serve basis. Your participation in this course is valued and we look forward to welcoming you as part of the ALARM teaching team.
