Dr. Brian Fitzsimmons MD
Dr. Fitzsimmons is Clinical Professor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at University of British Columbia. He was medical director of the CARE Program at BC Womens’ Hospital (BC’s tertiary program for Family Planning) from 2004 - 2016. He brought Family Planning to the Residency Program at UBC as a one month rotation (in 2007) and in 2016, brought the Family Planning Fellowship to UBC and is currently the Fellowship Director. He is a native of Calgary, Studied at McGill (BSc Physiology), U of Calgary (Medicine) and UBC (OB/GYN residency). He was an author for the SOGC guidelines in Medical Abortion and is part of the team drafting the Surgical abortion guidelines. Dr. Fitzsimmons as also been involved Health for Humanity (H4H) bringing Gynecologic services to Antigua Guatemala, and served on 12 surgical missions between 1999 and 2015). He lives in Vancouver with his partner Michael. He loves teaching, traveling, cooking and cycling.
