Dr. John Guilfoyle MD
Garibaldi Highlands BC
Originally from Ireland, John has worked in a variety of settings in family practice, public and international health. He lives in Squamish, BC, currently working in northern Ontario focused on serving aboriginal communities. He has worked in Sioux Lookout, for over 15 years, helping to develop and support a program that delivers over 400 babies a year to mothers who, mostly, come from remote First Nations communities. An ALARM instructor and a committee member of the ALARM International Program, he sees the importance of continuous improvement in the provision of services in pregnancy and around birth.
Married to Geraldine, an educator and author, they have 2 adult children who are both physicians. He has a particular interest in the health of women and children, mentoring medical students and residents, and inter-faith dialogue and activities. Sailing, flute playing, hiking and squash help to keep him occupied.
