Dr. Anne Hennessy
Anne is a psychiatrist with over 30 years clinical experience in general psychiatry with a focus on the psychiatry of later life. She works in hospitals , long term care settings, and has a small community based practice. Anne has extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and weaves mindfulness principles into her work. She trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn and others from The C.F.M. at the University of Massachusetts.
She co-leads 8 week modified MBSR groups for elderly caregivers distressed by caring for a loved one who is chronically ill. She has led workshops for health professionals and in the Public Service integrating mindfulness into the work place and fostering self compassion and nurturing. Also Anne collaborated in presentations at national conferences emphasizing the benefits of meditation in the prevention of burnout.
Anne leads annual international retreats, to places as far-flung as Italy , Ireland , Bali and this year Spain. This allows for an integration of her values and passions ; creating community, exploring the world and giving people tools to regenerate their lives.
