Dr. Deborah O'Connor PhD
Dr. Debbie O’Connor is a professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto, a dietitian and Senior Associate Scientist in the Physiology and Experimental Medicine Program at The Hospital for Sick Children and a Senior Associate Staff Member in the Division of Neonatology at Mount Sinai Hospital. Debbie leads Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)-funded research programs which evaluate strategies to optimize maternal and infant nutrition and health. Dr. O’Connor serves as co-chair of the Advisory Committee for the Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Donor Milk Bank and co-chaired the Canadian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Nutrition Working Group that recently authored the Canadian Consensus on Female Nutrition guidelines. Dr. O’Connor also recently served on a joint US-Canada Government working group to strategize possible options of how to address chronic disease endpoints in setting national Dietary Reference Intakes.
