Dr. David Sidney Smithson MD
David Smithson is a fourth year resident in London, Ontario. His undergraduate degree was in Commerce at Queen's University, graduating in 2005. He then moved to London for medical school at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, from which he graduated in 2009.
His research interests include medical education and health economics. He has most recently used simulation software to model and propose improvements in patient flow through an obstetrical triage unit. He has also studied training amongst OBGYN residents in the diagnosis and management of psychiatric illness in the antenatal and postpartum periods.
As a resident he has been involved at the local level serving on both university and hospital committees including the Continuing Medical Education committee of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
Provincially he is currently undertaking his second term as Treasurer of the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario, and nationally serves as the resident representative on the Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
David hopes to pursue subspecialty training in Gynaecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility upon completion of his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
