Mr. Alessandro Marcon
Alessandro Marcon (Sandro) holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies with a Specialization in Digital Humanities from Carleton University. He is currently working as a Research Associate at the Health Law Institute (HLI) in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta under Research Director, Timothy Caulfield. Sandro’s research interests focus on the roles that language and media play in the translation of knowledge and experience as well as in the assertion and actualizing of power. His explorations into language and media often focus on digital communication and social media. Working with the team at the HLI, Sandro has published research on health topics such as inter alia alternative medicine, stem cell therapies, precision/personalized medicine, and genetic testing, involving different types of media such as the popular press, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
