Dr. Jim Ruiter MD
Dr. Ruiter is Medical Director, and Vice President for Salus Global.
He co-chairs the Obstetrical Content Review committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada – the committee that creates and maintains the content for both the ALARM and the MOREOB interprofessional obstetrical patient safety Programs.
He is a member of the Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science faculty of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, where he co-chairs the SHIFT to Safety working group.
Beginning practice as a GP – Obstetrician, he spent 19 years in rural practice in Alberta, Canada where he eventually burnt out. A few years before leaving practice, he and his team were witness to the incredible power of the MOREOB program in bringing about meaningful and sustainable change. As he became more involved in the process of change in medicine, he became interested in the process of change in the culture of medicine. He became a member of the training faculty of the MOREOB program in 2005.
In 2008, he retired from active practice an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta, Canada. He joined Salus Global later that year to help others achieve some of the successes he and his team were witness to. In this capacity, he has worked with hundreds of teams across North America from coast, to coast, to coast.
He is indebted to his ever-supporting family.
