Medical Student Program
The SOGC extends a special invitation to all medical students who have an interest in ob/gyn to attend this year’s All-Virtual Medical Student Program.
About the program
The program is designed to benefit students by exposing them to virtual hands-on workshops and seminars that enhance their awareness and understanding of the profession of obstetrics and gynaecology.
In addition to hands-on workshops, students are able to hear from ob/gyn residents from across the country to learn more about residency programs and from a panel of individuals at various stages of their career. Students have the opportunity to present a poster and the program includes a social event to add some team-building fun!
The 2021 Medical Student Program will take place from June 19-20 over Zoom.
How to apply
Canadian medical students who have not previously attended the SOGC Medical Student Program are welcome to apply. 100 students will be selected at random from a pool of applicants. Students may opt to be placed on a cancellation list in the event that they are not selected to participate. Please note, preference is given to unmatched students.

Speak with the Residents Week
Each year, the SOGC Resident Committee hosts a week-long series of teleconferences that are open to all Canadian medical students. The calls are organized by region, with resident representatives from each ob/gyn program in Canada attending the calls. Residents will provide information about their respective programs, and be available to answer questions from callers.

Resident Champion List
These residents are willing to be contacted by medical students interested in a career in ob/gyn to assist in answering specific questions about their program, site, CaRMS and/or elective opportunities. This is an opportunity for students to have assistance throughout the very difficult process of obtaining appropriate opportunities, applications, and ensuring the right fit as a future resident within each ob/gyn program.
