Recommendations
- Smallpox vaccine should be recommended as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to pregnant women who are exposed to monkeypox in accordance with jurisdictional-specific direction on categories of exposures that qualify for PEP.
- Pregnant individuals with suspected monkeypox should be managed by an interdisciplinary team as there is a paucity of data on monkeypox in pregnancy, but signals of profound morbidity for the pregnancy exist.
