Providing obstetrical care during the COVID-19 pandemic

In this "COVID-19 101" module, participants will be able to: develop an informed and safe approach to modifying obstetrical care, that supports social distancing principles without sacrificing quality of care; appreciate there are unique psychosocial demands on both patients and providers during the pandemic, and develop strategies to address these; highlight important issues on the labour and delivery ward including COVID-19 screening, personal protective equipment, and management of fever in labour; discuss changes in postpartum care during the COVID-19 pandemic; and have a risk-assessment strategy to correctly identify patients at individual increased risk to contract COVID-19 or to develop severe infection if they are exposed.


This course is an Accredited Group-Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. You may claim a maximum of 1.0 hour.
