Biography
Julie Thorne is the medical lead for Family Planning at Women’s College Hospital and Sinai Health Systems, and an assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. In addition, she is currently practicing Ob-Gyn part-time Owen Sound. She continues to work with the Academic Model for Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) the Global Women's Health and Equity Program at U of T. Julie completed the CARE fellowship at Queen’s University in 2017 and her MPH at the TH Chan School of Public Health at Harvard University in 2015. Her academic focus and advocacy have been evolving around improving access to abortion care (including virtual care and at later gestational ages), surgical contraception for young women choosing to be child free, and contraceptive options for people with complex medical conditions.
