Dr. Susie Dzakpasu PhD

Ms Dzakpasu is currently an Epidemiologist with the Public Health Agency of Canada, where she co-chairs the Maternity Experiences Study Group of the Canadian Perinatal Surveillance System. In 1999, this study group was convened and given the mandate to develop a national survey of women's experiences, perceptions, knowledge and practices during pregnancy, birth and the early months of parenthood. Her research interests include a variety of maternal and child health issues such as birth asphyxia, breastfeeding and maternal mortality. She has a Master of Health Science degree in Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of Toronto, and will be starting a Doctorate in Epidemiology and Population Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine this September.
