Dr. Hussam M. Azzam, MD, MMedEd, FAcadMEd, FRCSC, MRCOG, FACOG, CCPE
Dr. Hussam Azzam’s professional journey encompasses more than 20 years’ experience as medical leader, physician educator, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.
Currently, Dr. Azzam is the Medical Director of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Charlottetown, PEI, an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Manitoba, a practicing Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, a Surveyor with Accreditation Canada and a Director on the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist of Canada (SOGC) Board of Directors.
He is the chair of the SOGC Obstetrics Clinical Practice Committee, and member of both the SOGC and the Salus Global Finance Committees. He also chairs and actively participates in many projects, working groups, advisory councils and committees at regional, provincial, national and international levels. His portfolio has many productive clinical audits, clinical researches, guidelines and policies as well as numerous national and international presentations.
Dr. Azzam also held several leadership and administrative positions including Vice President for Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the Northern Health Region in Manitoba, CMO and Executive Director Clinical Programs at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Councillor on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba Council and Director on the Diagnostic Service Manitoba Board of Directors.
