Ms. Shelley Dougan
Shelley Dougan is an American Board-certified Genetic Counsellor and health policy specialist. She received her MSc in Genetic Counselling from UBC, and a Master’s in Public Administration, Health Policy from Queen’s University. She has spent her career working in a variety of healthcare systems and jurisdictions, with a continued focus on population screening programs and policy. Her specific focus on prenatal screening began while at the Prenatal Screening Program of British Columbia in 2001. She joined BORN Ontario in 2011 as the Screening Specialist, working closely with screening programs and genetics units across Ontario to help facilitate care through high quality data. During her time at BORN, she has participated on several provincial committees focusing on screening in the maternal-child population. As the manager of Ontario’s new Prenatal Screening Program, she is leading the implementation of this initiative to support the clinical and laboratory community in their continued delivery of a high-quality screening system for patients and families.
