The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (SOGC) is recognized by millions of Canadians as a trusted voice in women’s healthcare. You can rest assured that we stand behind the quality of the products that carry the “Recognized by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada” seal.
The SOGC does not endorse or recommend any one product over another. We would encourage open discussions between Healthcare Providers and their patients to determine which product is best for each individual.
How do products get an SOGC Recognized Seal?
Every product that carries our seal has been independently and carefully reviewed by a panel of medical professionals. Each product has received Health Canada approval for sale in the Canadian market; demonstrates scientific evidence of safety and efficacy; and packaging claims can be substantiated with scientific evidence.

What products are eligible?
Eligible products must be over the counter, non-prescription products in the spaces of:
- Therapeutics, such as vitamins, supplements and menstrual pain management products
- Sexual and reproductive health-related products for external use, such as home-based ovulation test kits and pregnancy test kits, non-prescription contraceptive options and vaginal and sexual health products

The SOGC will only recognize products that fall within our scope of expertise. Review and recognition is guided by best practices outlined in our Clinical Practice Guidelines.
