The new Enhanced Obstetrical Skills course promotes improved patient outcomes associated with standardized approaches to common obstetrical procedures.

This course is in response to requests for an advanced level of obstetrical education and is designed for the practicing obstetrician and senior obstetrical resident.

This one-day course combines hands-on sessions focused on obstetrical anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) and impacted fetal head with discussion workshops focused on obesity in pregnancy, placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders and caesarean section best practices.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe best practice Caesarean delivery
  • Review and practice difficult fetal extraction of the deeply impacted head
  • Identify risks and establish a comprehensive management plan for the pregnant patient with obesity
  • Review and practice surgical management of OASIS
  • Identify risks and formulate management plans for suspected PAS disorder

 

Who should attend?

This course is designed and intended for Ob-Gyns, PGY4 and PGY5 OB residents or Family Physicians with ESS only.
