The SOGC Medical Student Program

The SOGC is proud to host a virtual Medical Student Program in January every year, as well as to include a Medical Student track in-person at ACSC in June. This program is designed to provide medical students with the opportunity to enhance their awareness and understanding of the profession of Obstetrics and Gynaecology through speakers, panel discussion, and various initiatives.

The next in-person Medical Student track will take place on Friday, June 19th, 2026, at the Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference (ACSC) in Ottawa, Ontario. Please refer to the ACSC Program for more details.

Speak with the Residents Week

Each year, the SOGC Resident Working Group hosts a week-long series of teleconferences that are open to all Canadian medical students. The calls are organized by region, with resident representatives from each ob/gyn program in Canada attending the calls. Residents will provide information about their respective programs and be available to answer questions from callers. In case you missed this year’s series – the recordings of each session will be linked below. Stay tuned!

Residency Programs – FAQ Sheets

Updated each year by the SOGC Resident Working Group, the FAQ sheets answer your questions concerning every residency program in the country.

Resident Champion List

These residents are willing to be contacted by medical students interested in a career in ob/gyn to assist in answering specific questions about their program, site, CaRMS and/or elective opportunities. This is an opportunity for students to have assistance throughout the very difficult process of obtaining appropriate opportunities, applications, and ensuring the right fit as a future resident within each ob/gyn program.
