Application Instructions for Application to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Foundation for Women's Health

The mandate of the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health is to provide funding for research, education, and international work in all aspects of women’s health, thereby saving lives and improving the health of women. The Board of Directors is responsible for putting the mandate of the Foundation into action. The Board establishes the Foundation’s goals and policy, ensures adequate financial support for Foundation operations, develops and plans long-range initiatives, hires the Executive Director, and promotes the Foundation both privately and publicly.

The CFWH is pleased to announce the following vacancies, to be filled by election, for the CFWH Board of Directors (current Board):

  • One obstetrician gynaecologist member from the Atlantic Region for one 3-year term, with option to stand for a second term;
  • Two obstetrician gynaecologist members from the Central Region for one 3-year term (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NWT or Nunavut), with option to stand for a second term;
  • One Nurse member for one 3-year term; with option to stand for a second term;
  • Two Resident/fellow members for one 2-year term and
  • One member of the public.

Eligibility criteria:

Leaders at any stage in their career will be considered who have:

  • Earned the respect of their colleagues;
  • Enthusiasm to advance and advocate for women’s health initiatives;/li>
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage in appropriate discussions;
  • Ability to think strategically; and
  • Knowledge of governance principles and commitment to fulfill her/his fiduciary duties.

Commitment involved:

Members elected to the Board of Directors must make a firm commitment to participate in four Board meetings per year, as well as an Annual General Meeting which may be virtual or face-to-face. Members must read all documents and materials provided and be prepared to actively participate in meetings and follow-up.
