Call for Nominations of Candidates to The SOGC Board of Directors 2024-2027

The SOGC is excited to announce open positions on the Board of Directors for the 2024-2027 term. In alignment with our commitment to excellence and governance standards, we are seeking dedicated professionals to fill these vital roles:

Three (3) Director positions, each serving a 3-year term with the option for a second 3-year term. These roles are open to Obstetrician-Gynaecologists with a passion for advancing our mission and contributing to the strategic direction of SOGC.

Two (2) Additional Director positions as external advisors or non-voting members, aimed at broadening our board's expertise and perspectives. These roles are designed for individuals who can contribute unique skills and insights to support our organization's objectives.

 
Eligibility criteria:

  • Knowledge of governance principles is essential.
  • Demonstration and knowledge of strategic thinking, effective communication, and diligent fulfillment of fiduciary duties are required.
  • Knowledge of positive leadership attributes traits, such as emotional intelligence, the ability to work collaboratively, engage in appropriate debate, and discuss visionary and strategic drive.
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic planning and governance are necessary.
  • Knowledge and capability to provide a non-clinical perspective that enhances the board's breadth of expertise are valued.

Commitment Involved
Members elected to the Board of Directors must make a firm commitment to participate in four Board meetings per year, which may be virtual or face-to-face, and to attend their Regional CME and the ACSC for the duration of their term. 

 

INSTRUCTIONS
Each interested individual must submit a Nomination Form via SurveyMonkey which can be found HERE  by the end of the day on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Nomination Process:

  • Members wishing to nominate themselves must complete the Nomination Form with all required details.
  • This form includes a personal statement outlining why you are a suitable candidate for the Board of Directors. This should focus on your qualifications, vision for the organization, and how you align with and embody the organization’s values. 
  • All candidates require the name, membership number and signature of (3) references. 
  • The Nominating, Awards and Talent Acquisition Committee will review all submissions to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria and align with the organization’s needs and values.
  • Detailed profiles of each nominee will be made available to the membership prior to voting and election results will be announced via email communication.

     

Note: The first meeting of the 2024-2025 Board of Directors will be held on June 10 at the SOGC Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference (ACSC) in Edmonton, AB. 


Nomination Form - SOGC Regional Achievement Award 2024

The SOGC Regional Achievement Awards recognize the excellence of members who are committed and passionate about promoting women's health at the local, regional or provincial level. 

Nomination and Selection 

Members will nominate candidates in their region who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to promoting women’s health.  The Nominating, Awards and Talent Acquisition Committee will review the nominations and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The award recipients will be selected and approved at the April 2024 Board of Directors meeting. This award cannot be awarded posthumously. 

Eligibility 

All nominees must: 

  • Be an active member in good standing of the SOGC; 
  • Have made significant contributions to the advancement of women's health in their community or province through education, practice, and/or community involvement; and
  • Be an advocate for the SOGC and its mission. 

Recipients of SOGC Regional Achievement Awards will be acknowledged in the SOGC newsletter, will receive a cheque for $500, as well as complimentary registration to their next regional CME where they will be recognized.
