Provinces must do better at tracking maternal deaths, SOGC president tells CBC

SOGC President Dr. Lynn Murphy-Kaulbeck spoke with CBC New Brunswick about the need for better tracking of maternal mortality. Current data collection methods by Canadian provinces are inadequate, often underestimating the true rate of maternal deaths, she said.

The SOGC has called for a collaborative effort between provincial and federal governments to establish a comprehensive data collection system to capture all maternal deaths, near deaths and severe illnesses related to pregnancy.
